Congress and its allies have bagged 260 seats .The BJP-led NDA is far behind winning 157 seats.The Third Front which includes the Left, the TDP and the AIADMK wins 58 seats. The Fourth Front of SP, RJD and LJP got 27. BSP has got 21 seats.

Dr Singh praised the leadership of Sonia and Rahul Gandhi and said he would like to have him in his Cabinet. Sonia Gandhi said it would be the Prime Minister's decision.

Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck and his father Jigme Singye Wangchuck wrote a letter to the Prime Minister congratulating him on the victory.

Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari was among the first to extend his greetings.

European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso congratulated on Saturday India's ruling Congress alliance on its landslide victory in general elections."The electoral process was yet another impressive display of the strong democratic culture of India," Barroso said in a statement."The European Commission is looking forward to continue working with a Congress-led government to further strengthen relations between the European Union and India," he added

UK Barry Gardiner, an MP belonging to ruling Labour Party and a former minister said "This is just wonderful,"Further he adds "India's democracy is, quite simply, the greatest expression of Common Will that we have on the planet. Time after time after time, the Indian electorate has astounded us and proved us wrong.But it really shouldn't surprise us any longer - because India is not only the world's largest democracy, but also one of the world's most mature".

US president Obama sent his wishes,Congratulating India on its "historic national election", US President Barack Obama said he was looking forward to continue working with the new government in New Delhi."President Obama looks forward to continuing to work with the Indian government to enhance the warm partnership between our two countries," the White House said in a statement.By successfully completing the largest exercise of popular voting in the world, the elections have strengthened India's vibrant democracy and upheld the values of freedom and pluralism that make India an "example for us all", Obama said.
