MPs, legislators from Telangana resign

Members of Parliament and legislators from the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh today resigned en-masse pressing for an early decision on the issue of separate statehood for Telangana.In Delhi, seven Congress MPs met Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and handed over their resignation letters along with that of two other MPs who could not be present. Rajya Sabha member K Keshav Rao met the Officer on Special Duty to Chairman Hamid Ansari and submitted his resignation.

Meanwhile, Home Minister P Chidambaram today said the consultation process is continuing on the Telangana Statehood demand and a final decision on the issue will be taken only when it will be over. Talking to the media in New Delhi, Home Minister P Chidambaram said, it is an extremely sensitive and complex issue. He appealed to the MLAs, one Rajya Sabha MP and Andhra Pradesh Ministers from the Telangana region to be patient. He said, the party is in constant touch with the Telangana leaders.
