BJP asks PM to ensure passage of Lokpal bill

New Delhi:Digvijay Singh, in the thick of a controversy over remarks on the Bhushans and Justice Santosh Hegde, today said the Congress and the government were in no way connected with the alleged smear campaign against civil society representatives and would not hamper the work of the joint committee to draft the Lokpal Bill. Senior BJP leader Shanta Kumar today said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's statement regarding introduction of Lokpal Bill in Parliament was not enough and asked him to ensure its passage in the Monsoon session assuring him of his party's total support. "During the last 42 years, Lokpal Bill was introduced eight times in Parliament but the passage of the legislation was always deferred under one pretext or the other. The Prime Minister should announce not only introduction of the Bill but its final passage. BJP will support it fully in Parliament," the BJP vice president said. Bhushan's face smear campaign

Central Forensic Sciences Laboratory (CFSL) located in New Delhi has said "there is continuity in the conversation"."Recorded conversation is in continuity, no abrupt change in speech signal has been detected," police sources said quoting from the report.They also said there was no change in background voice pattern.The purported telephone conversation among Shanti Bhushan, Yadav and Singh suggested attempts being made at influencing a judge. Normal monsoon forecast

India Meteorological Department (IMD) today forecast normal monsoon season this year with the country likely to receive 98 per cent rains of of the Long Period Average (LPA).The LPA is the average rainfall over the past 50 years, which is 89 cm. However, weather scientists said that some pockets of the country, particularly the food bowl northwestern region could experience deficit rains.Met Department has predicted normal monsoon this year and announced its first official long range forecast for south west monsoon as Science and technology minister Pawan Kumar Bansal said that monsoon will reach Kerala by 1st of June and Delhi by 29th of June.
