RIL-BP's USD 7.2 bn deal-top-FDI into India

RIL-BP's USD 7.2 bn deal seen as biggest FDI into India.-Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries' USD 7.2 billion deal with British giant BP Plc, cleared by the government on Friday, is seen as the biggest foreign direct investment into India.The mega transaction, announced in February, was cleared by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA).RIL-BP's USD 7.2 billion deal is seen as the largest Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) after Japanese pharma major Daiichi Sankyo's buyout of Ranbaxy Laboratories for USD 4.5 billion in 2008.

Even though there are other bigger-size proposals, most of them are yet to materialise.

For instance, South Korean group Posco's USD 12 billion investment for a steel plant in Orissa is yet to take off.

Similar is the case with ArcelorMittal's around USD 30 billion investment plans across India.

Another mega transaction worth USD 11 billion was between Vodafone and Hutchison-Essar.

Foreign Ministers India and Pakistan meet next week

Foreign Ministers of India and Pakistan will meet next week in New Delhi to discuss issues like terrorism, Jammu and Kashmir, trade and promotion of bilateral exchanges. External Affairs Minister S M Krishna and newly-appointed Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Kher will hold day-long talks on July 27, 2011. The talks will be preceded by a meeting of the Foreign Secretaries on Tuesday. Besides terrorism, a number of issues including Jammu and Kashmir, Siachen, Sir Creek, trade, confidence-building measures and people-to-people contact will be discussed in the meeting.

DELHI SIKH GURDWARAS MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE' or DSGMC is an autonomous organization which manages Gurudwaras in Delhi state. DSGMC also manages various educational institutions, hospitals, old age homes, libraries and other charitable institutions in Delhi. It is headquartered in Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib, Near Parliament House.
Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee comprises 51 members, one member representing each of 46 wards; and five nominated members. It is governed by a Chairman and a President; as per Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Act of 1971.
It was a by-product of the Akali campaign for the reformation of the management of gurdwaras in the Punjab. To wrest control of the holy shrines from the hands of a corrupt and effete priestly order, the Sikhs had set up on 15 November 1920 a body called the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Amritsar.

US:Full support to India against terrorism

US had made it very clear that there was an absolute international responsibility to cooperate to bring the perpetrators to justice.United States has pledged full support to India's efforts to protect itself from terror attacks, saying it intends to continue to press Pakistan as hard as possible to fight the menace.

US secretary of state Ms. Hillary Clinton arrived in New Delhi today evening on a three day visit to India. She will hold discussions with her Indian counterpart S. M. Krishna on Tuesday in the second Indo-U.S. strategic dialogue, deepening cooperation in counter terrorism, strategic partnership, energy and climate change will dominate the agenda of the talks. India-US-cooperation in education, science and technology, health and defence are likely to figure prominently in the talks. Situation in the region,bilateral trade ties,civil nuclear, major agenda will part of the two-big's dialogue. Two nations take up regional and international issues of mutual interest, including the situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Mr. S. M. Shiv Sena today slammed Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan for throwing a lavish party at his residence when Mumbai was mourning the loss of lives in the triple bomb blasts that rocked the city on Wednesday. Party's mouthpiece 'Saamna' said that the incident portrayed Khan, who has played a hero on the silver screen, a villain in real life.
