US cinema hall shooting massacre

A masked gunman on Friday turned the much-awaited premiere of the latest Batman movie in a US cinema hall into a "horrific" bloodbath, spraying the audience with bullets killing 12 people and leaving 59 others injured. The gunman, dressed in black, wearing a gas mask and a full body armour, marched into the packed theatre in Aurora, a suburb of Denver, Colorado, during a midnight showing of 'The Dark Knight Rises' starring Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway. He entered the theatre through the emergency exit lobbing two canisters that instantly filled the theatre with smoke and then used his automatic rifle to carry out a macabre dance of death. Citing FBI, American TV networks said the gunman has been identified as 24-year-old James Holmes from Aurora. Police said 10 people were killed at the scene, while they put the overall death toll to at least 12. E

Barack:When I decided to run for president

Barack Obama Naresh -- When I decided to run for president, I had significantly fewer gray hairs than I do today. Michelle says I've earned them, which is the nicest possible way to say I'm getting older. In fact, I'm turning 51 in a couple weeks, and to celebrate I'm heading home to Chicago for a get-together at my house. I'd love for you to be one of my guests. Donate $3 or whatever you can to support the campaign, and you'll be automatically entered to join me at home in Chicago -- flight and hotel covered for you and a guest of your choice. Chicago is where I fell in love with my wife and where our daughters were born. It's where decades ago I first started as a community organizer and where, six years ago, I first talked with Michelle about the possibility of running for president. I'm looking forward to spending a few hours celebrating there before it's all systems go for the final weeks of the election. Should b

Myanmar parliament agree to discuss contentious laws Filed under: Uncategorized — Leave a comment July 18, 2012 Myanmar’s parliament agreed on Tuesday to discuss amendments to a pair of controversial laws widely used to suppress dissent during the former junta’s rule.  Lower house speaker Shwe Mann confirmed that changes would be considered to the Emergency Provision Act and the colonial-era Unlawful Association Act, after a lawmaker raised the issue in parliament.  Pro-democracy campaigners have said the laws have been routinely used to detain dissidents and ethnic rebels.  While it is unclear how much support there is in parliament for changing the laws, debating their future is the latest sign of the mood for reform in Myanmar’s fledgling democracy.  The wide-ranging association act has been used to punish dissidents communicating with exile organisations and the nation’s myriad ethnic groups — with both declared “unlawful” during
