Arte español en la India Art Fair

El arte contemporáneo español llega a la India Art Fair de la mano de 4 galerías españolas, así como de la Conservadora Jefe de El Museo del Barrio de Nueva York, Chus Martínez, quien participará el sábado día 2 a las 12:00 en el panel titulado Arte en la época de la insurrección. Las galerías españolas, Imaginart (Barcelona), Invesart (Alicante), Neilson(Grazalema) y Villa del Arte(Barcelona), darán buena muestra del panorama actual del arte en España, del 1 al 3 de marzo en el recinto ferial NSIC en Okhla.
Arte en la época de la insurrección: Las situaciones de guerra y los conflictos han generado una fuerte respuesta, creando una forma reactiva de la producción artística. En la década del 2000 se ha producido un aumento de los movimientos armados, violencia y profanación de espacios artísticos. La guerra y la insurrección han sido testigos del saqueo de museos y obras de arte (Afganistán, Irak, Egipto, Libia, Bahrein). Esto ha llevado a una efusiva reacción artística, a menudo de artistas alejados de los lugares de conflicto y represión. Lidiando con el cambio en lo que Rudy Koshar describe como "paisajes de la memoria", los medios de comunicación se han convertido en un nuevo instrumento. Se ha pasado del control por parte de unos pocos a que las imágenes estén ahora en manos de la mayoría. La naturaleza de la movilización y el levantamiento de masas ha cambiado la forma en que se toma y distribuye la imagen. La interrelación entre los lugares del arte profanados y el levantamiento es complicada aún cuando se desafía la noción de lo heroico y del artista como autor.
Biografía Chus Martínez.
Chus Martínez llega a El Museo después de tres años trabajando como Jefa del Departamento de Dirección Artística de la feria internacional de arte contemporáneo más importante, DOCUMENTA (13), que se llevó a cabo del 6 de junio al 16 de septiembre de 2012 en Kassel, Alemania. Chus también fue Jefe comisaria del MACBA, Barcelona, hasta 2011, y director de la Frankfurter Kunstverei desde 2005-2008. En 2012, fue comisaria invitada para laSITE Santa Fe´s Seventh International Biennial. En la 50 ª Bienal de Venecia, en 2005, el Pabellón Nacional de Chipre fue comisariado por Chuz Martínez.

Spanish Contemporary art comes to India Art Fair by the hand of 4 Spanish galleries and the Chief Curator of El Museo del Barrio in New York, Chus Martinez, who will participate on Saturday 2nd at 12:00 noon in the panel entitled "Art in the Age of Uprising". The Spanish galleries,Imaginart (Barcelona), Invesart(Alicante), Neilson (Grazalema) andVilla del Arte (Barcelona) will give a good example of the current situation of art in Spain, from 1st to 3rd March at the NSIC Exhibition Grounds, at Okhla Industrial State.
Art in the Age of Uprising: Sites of war and conflict have generated strong response, creating a reactive form of art production. The decade of the 2000s has seen a surge in many movements, violence and desecration of art sites. War and uprising have witnessed the looting of museums and art sites (Afghanistan, Iraq, Egypt, Libya, Bahrain). This has led to an artistic outpouring– often from artists far away from the sites of conflict and repression. Even as we contend with the change in what Rudy Koshar describes as “memory landscapes”, social media have affected a new kind of instrumentality. From the control of the few, the image now rests in the hands of the many. The nature of uprising and mass mobilization have changed the way the image is made and distributed. The interrelation between desecrated art sites and uprising is complicated even as it challenges the notion of the heroic and artist as author.
Chus Martínez biography
Chus Martínez comes to El Museo after three years of working as Head of Department, Artistic Direction, of the most important international contemporary art exhibition, Documenta (13), which took place June 6th-September 16th, 2012 in Kassel, Germany. Ms. Martínez was also Chief Curator at MACBA, Barcelona until 2011, and director of the Frankfurter Kunstverei from 2005-2008. In 2012, she was guest curator for SITE Santa Fe´s Seventh International Biennial. For the 50thBiennale di Venezia in 2005, Chus Martínez curated the National Pavilion of Cyprus.
