The core of al-Qaeda is on the path to defeat, US President Barack Obama has said adding that this has been mainly due to the relentless actions being taken by his administration against terrorist groups. "We have put the core of al-Qaeda on the path to defeat, and we've been relentless against its affiliates," Obama said on Friday during the farewell ceremony of outgoing US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta. Obama hailed Panetta's role as CIA Director and then as Defence Secretary saying he played a key part in action against al-Qaeda and its affiliates. The weekly "DeutschlandTrend" survey for public broadcaster ARD put Merkel's conservative CDU/CSU bloc on 39 per cent, down one percentage point from a week back. The centre-left SPD gained two percentage points to register 29 per cent. CIL, OIL, ONGC, GAIL, focus in exploring and exploiting of energy sources in our country first JANATA DAL (UNITED) 7, Janatar Mantar Road, New Delhi-110001 PRESS RELEASE 8 th   February, 2013      I have called you today to express my concern on substantial spending of foreign exchange by Government of India on import of expensive petroleum products.  Instead of focusing on import of expensive petroleum products, the Government should concentrate on use of gas as replacement of coal and liquid petroleum products. As you are aware, I have always expressed my great concern on judicious use of our abundant amount of natural resources as I repeatedly mentioned at the time of scam on allotment of coal blocks also.  The use of indigenous gas can be increased manifold if reliable gas supply is assured through development of new blocks. The cost of such gas will be much cheaper than today’s gas price and may be one fourth of imported gas.  With the availability of indige

Defence Research and Development Organisation chief V K Saraswat said country is developing Agni VI ballistic missile that would carry multiple warheads llowing one weapon system to take out several targets at a time. "Agni-V is major strategic defence weapon. Now we want to make Agni-VI which would be a force multiplier," DRDO chief said in Bangalore. Refusing to divulge the range of the new under- development missile, he said the force multiplier capability of the missile would be because of its Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) capability. The Agni-5 ballistic missile, which was test-fired in April last year, has a range of upto 5,500 kms and it is believed that the Agni-6 would have a range longer than its predecessor. "It will have force multiplier capability by the MIRV approach which would enable us to deli
US, JAPAN, AUSTRALIA CONDUCT DRILL BY SAGARMEDIA   February 8, 2013 Western Pacific skies were filled by the roar of fighter jets as US and two key allies practised military drill in the combat phase of annual exercises that have gained importance as the region responds to the rise of China and other potential threats. The Cope North drills which could soon swell in participants are aimed at preparing air forces of the US, Japan and Australia to fight together if a military crisis erupts. They also send a vivid reminder to Beijing that America’s regional alliances are strong, though officers leading the maneuvers say they are not looking to bait the Chinese military. “The training is not against a specific country, like China,” Japan Air Self-Defense Force Lt. Gen. Masayuki Hironaka said. “However, I think (the fact) that our alliance with the US and Australia is healthy is a strong message.” The three allies began flying sorties together earlier in the week around the US t
