Supreme Court on Tuesday said that the CBI probe report prima facie suggests irregularities in coal block allocation. The court has directed CBI not to share its report with government and give it in writing to the court. This comes four days after the probe agency submitted its latest probe status report to the top court in a selaed envelop. The court also asked Centre to file additional affidavit to clarify policy criterion for selecting and dropping companies. The news agency reports that CBI informed SC in its report that No verification of credentials of companies was done for coal block allocation during 2006-09. "Insulted" and "shocked" by Italy's stand on the marines issue, senior Supreme Court advocate Harish Salve has quit as counsel for the Italian government in the fishermen killing case. Salve said that now it is "a question of Indian prestige" and the government will be "justified" in the tough steps it takes in the matter after the Italian government refused the return of two marines, charged with killing of two Indian fishermen last year. Major Move to bring in Transparency in Granting Approval for Hotel Projects and Classifying Hotels Union Tourism Minister Shri K Chiranjeevi today announced a major initiative to bring in transparency in granting approvals for hotel projects and classification status to functioning hotels. The hotel promoters and owners seek voluntary approval from the Ministry of Tourism for their projects and classification from one Star to Five Star Deluxe by submitting applications. These requests are processed for a final decision within 90 days from the receipt of complete applications. At present, the applicants remain unaware of the status of their applications till the final decision is conveyed to them.
