Worldwide unemployment is projected to rise by 5.1 million in 2013: ILO The report, Global Unemployment Trends 2013, released by International Labour Organisation (ILO)  indicates  that in the fifth year after the outbreak of the global financial crisis, global growth has decelerated and unemployment has started to increase again, leaving an accumulated total of some 197 mil­lion people without a job in 2012. Furthermore, some 39 million people have dropped out of the labour market as job prospects proved unattainable, opening a 67 million global jobs gap since 2007. Despite a moderate pick-up in output growth expected for 2013–14, the unemployment rate is set to increase again and the number of unemployed worldwide is projected to rise by 5.1 million in 2013, to more than 202 million in 2013 and by another 3 million in 2014. March IIP grows at 2.5% 11 05 2013 March IIP grows at 2.5% The recovery in IIP growth is inspiring on good growth performance in capital goods segment supported by growth in basic goods production. However, its sustainability would require all-round efforts in removing impediments for business activity. There are a host of reforms, which if implemented could make the industry environment conducive for investments and help attain higher growth. Growth in industry output, as measured in terms of IIP, for the month of March 2013 is estimated at 2.5% as compared with (-) 2.8% during March 2012. The cumulative growth for the period April-March 2012-13 stands at 1% as compared to 2.9% in the corresponding period of the previous year. The growth in the three sectors mining, manufacturing and electricity in March 2013, stands at (-) 2.9%, 3.2% and 3.5% respectively as compared to (-) 1.1%, (-) 3.6% and 2.7% during March 2012 respectively. Therefore, the apex trader's body today sought an immediate intervention by Union Urban Development Minister  Mr Kamal Nath  to resolve this burning issue by addressing the trading community's woes in this context.
