Pran was the life, live wire of Indian Cinema of 20th Century his matinee career span for more than six decades acted in nearly 400 films was finally laid to eternal rest at Shivaji Park Mumbai.Pran ruled the hearts of youth with his catchy dialogue delivery giving life to his words with his eyes in wholesome expression.His art of smoking,creating smoke circles were practiced  and admired by both young and aged. His character in the film spoke volumes about his contemplative attitude and submergence which made him the highest paid villain of his time. The legendary actor is survived by his wife Shukla, daughter Pinky, and sons Arvind and Sunil. Assam flood affects 1.1 lakh people    No sign of relief of  from flood waters in Assam, the situation continued to remain critical as 27 more villages were submerged on Thursday. With this, about 1.2 lakh people have been affected in nearly 450 villages, official sources said. According to Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), 27 villages are affected in five districts - Dhemaji, Chirang, Lakhimpur, Jorhat and Sivasagar. The flood waters have destroyed standing crops like rice in around 6,500 hectares of agricultural land across 11 districts in the state. As per ASDMA data, nine relief camps have been set up in Dhemaji and Chirang districts and about 3,000 people have taken shelter there. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh spoke to the state Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and assured him of all kinds of central help. Halappanavar died after a miscarriage, days after her requests for an abortion had been denied repeatedly by hospital authorities.

GAIL employees contribute one day's salary for relief work in Uttarakhand

New Delhi, July 11: The employees of GAIL (India) Limited have voluntarily contributed one day's salary for relief and rehabilitation work in disaster-hit Uttarakhand. The contribution to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund was handed over to Hon'ble Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dr. M. Veerappa Moily by GAIL Chairman and Managing Director Shri B. C. Tripathi here today in the presence of Shri Vivek Rae, Secretary, Petroleum and Natural Gas and senior officials of the Ministry, along with Shri M. Ravindran, Director (Human Resources) and other officials of GAIL. Apart from this, GAIL has contributed Rs 2 crore to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund as an immediate measure as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative for Uttarakhand where thousands lost their lives and many more were injured and rendered homeless by the flash floods last month. Analysis of sitting MPs and MLAs with self declared Criminal Cases- Election Wise Following are the salient features that emerge from the analysis carried out by Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and National Election Watch (NEW):- ·          A total of 4807 sitting MPs and MLAs have been analyzed by ADR and NEW.
