AUG 23 2014 International News UN Security Council condemns beheading of journalist James Foley The UN Security Council has denounced the beheading of American journalist James Foley at the hands of Islamic State militants, Reuters reports.  “The Security Council strongly condemned the heinous and cowardly murder of James Foley,”  the council said in a statement on Friday, adding that the group  “must be defeated and that the intolerance, violence and hatred it espouses must be stamped out.”  Militants have threatened to kill another US reporter if President Barack Obama does not halt military action in Iraq. Scott: Florida Tourism on Pace for Another Record Year Tourism-Related Employment Has Lead the State in Growth for 52 Straight Months   Mumbai, 21 st August, 2014: Governor Rick Scott announced that according to  VISIT FLORIDA's preliminary estimates* 24.0 million visitors came to Florida in the second quarter of 2014 (April-June), an increase of 3.0 percent over the same period in 2013.  This represents the largest second quarter for visitation Florida has ever experienced, exceeding the previous high of 23.3 million in Q2 2013.  Visitor spending is up 7.4 percent in January through May 2014, at $35.7 billion, which is more than the same time period in 2013.   Governor Scott said, “A thriving tourism industry is vital to growing jobs, and today’s report that Florida has experienced another record quarter for visitation is great news for Florida families. Stand-off continues between Pak govt and protesters 21 08 2014 Pakistan’s Tehreek-i-Insaf Chief Imran Khan says he will not hold talks with the government until Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif resigns. The opposition leader told protesters holding a sit-in outside parliament that the talks will be no use unless Mr. Sharif steps down. However, Cleric Tahirul Qadri, sent a team to meet officials last night but the talks ended without a resolution. Protesters accuse Mr Sharif of rigging last year’s elections. Mr Khan has led a week-long campaign in an attempt to bring down the government, which culminated in thousands of protesters breaching the high security zone of Islamabad on Tuesday. Mr Khan and Mr Qadri, have been summoned to appear before the Supreme Court today to explain the protests. The government has accused protesters of attempting to derail democracy.
